一. 学校概况：
马来西亚理科大学是马来西亚政府建立的第二所公立大学，成立于1969年7月，是继马来亚大学（UM）后，历史最悠久的国立大学。校园规模庞大、环境优美，被誉为亚洲的花园大学。该校学术研究方面的成就在国际上享有很高的声誉。其被认为是马来西亚三所最著名的资深研究类大学之一。USM共有3个校区、20个学院、6个研究中心及研究所组成。目前，大学有在校学生25,000多人，在读研究生人数约7,000人，博士研究生约1,300名，其中约有来自世界各地的留学生1000多人。学校一流的研究设备和高质量的师资队伍，以及他们活跃的学术活动和高端前沿的研究项目，吸引着广大研究生前来学习。
正是因为其卓越的教学和科研水平，理科大学在国内外享有非常高的声誉，在2004年泰晤士高等教育增刊对全世界大学所做得的综合排名中，理科大学在全球大学排名中位居111位，亚洲排名第15位，东盟国家排名第4位。
