学校概况

赫瑞瓦特大学的历史可以追溯到一八二一年，它位于爱丁堡市，是一所以理工科为主的大学，在许多领域诸如精算数学、光电子学和激光、建筑环境、石油计算机领域皆拥有一流的研究中心。这所大学有长期从事专业科学研究的稳固的实力及声誉，使之成为苏格兰在学术与工业合作上最成功的大学。赫瑞瓦特大学在工业研究上已经占有重要位置：统计显示这所大学的工业基金与教职员工的比例在全英国排名第六。

工业界对本校非常重视，接近一半的经费（即三千万英镑）来自它们的投资。赫瑞瓦特大学的毕业生在全英国的就业情况非常好，经常是前十名以内。学校历史 赫瑞·瓦特大学的历史，可追溯到1821年，于1966年获英国皇家特许。赫瑞·瓦特大学目前是一所充满活力的现代化高等学府。1994年因其在技术和管理的杰出成就获该年度的女王奖。

在1996年12月的全英高校科研评比中本校获得了多项第一： ①在工程、建筑环境、食品科学领域排名第一 ②在数学学科并列第一 ③在石油工程领域是全英第一。 地理位置 爱丁堡赫瑞瓦特大学位于苏格兰美丽的首都爱丁堡市的郊，校内树木葱葱、景色怡人。驱车从这里前往爱丁堡机场仅需20分钟；搭乘飞机仅需55分钟即可抵达伦敦，乘坐火车则需要4小时。

地理位置

爱丁堡是苏格兰的首府，四所大学坐落于此。矗立在Royal Mile山顶的古城堡是城市的焦点所在，再往下就是英女王在苏格兰的正式住所Holyroodhouse宫。公共公园几乎占了爱丁堡一半面积，因此也为学生们提供了足够的绿地来开展体育活动或休闲。

从爱丁堡开车到高地只要两个小时。在这里你可以进行山地行走、登山、滑雪，也能参加航行等水上运动，或是打高尔夫球。

爱丁堡是一座节日之城（一年有12个节日），每年八月它还举办世界闻名的“国际艺术节”，爱丁堡著名的“除夕”（新年前夕）庆祝活动是欧洲规模最大的冬季举行的节日。

从爱丁堡校园开车到国际机场只要5分钟，这里有航班直达许多欧洲城市。要到苏格兰博德斯校园学习的学生，可以先抵达爱丁堡或纽卡斯尔，再转到校园所在的Galashiels镇。

学校设施

大学的国际学生占学生总数的25%，分别来自90多个国家。

爱丁堡校园设备完善，能够满足学生的日常所有需要。这里有商店、银行、餐馆、保健中心、体育学院和学生服务办公室。爱丁堡校园的图书馆在学期和假期里都开放，里面有650多个阅读座位和70台个人电脑工作站。

运动设施包括：羽毛球、板球、足球、曲棍球、橄榄球、壁球、网球，另有一间有氧锻炼和举重房。学期期间，学校开设各类辅导班，指导学生运动和放松。

苏格兰博德斯校园离爱丁堡市45公里。与爱丁堡校园一样，这里也具备各种设施，其中包括学生宿舍。

住宿

全体国际本科新生和研究生，只要接受了赫瑞瓦特大学的无条件录取，并在入学当年的9月1日前向学校申请宿舍，学校就保证为他们提供学生宿舍或公寓房间。学生福利服务处帮助错过上述期限的国际学生寻找住处。

学生可以选择膳食供应型宿舍、和其他学生共用厨房设施的膳食自理型宿舍，或校外学校公寓。所有的房间都安装了互联网接口，学生通过自己的电脑就能够连接到学校网络，每栋学生宿舍都有宿舍管理员。

学生宿舍的房租为每周￡32-￡65。爱丁堡校园和博德斯校园都提供宿舍。

信息技术硕士研究生预科
入学标准：中国三年大专毕业。 并要求申请人大专专业是学理工科，或者课程中有相当分量的计算机课程。纯文科学生不能申请（比如英语专业，中文专业等等）。 金融或者经济学专业的学生可以申请。
学制： 雅思5.5分者，每年1月份－9月份， 学费5335英镑 雅思5分以上者，每年10月份－第二年9月份， 学费7115英镑
